A large number of people are trying to save money today. The economy isn't in the best of places right now, and more and more people need to cut things out of their budget that they do not believe are necessary. One of the first things to go is usually the membership to the gym. They figure they will be able to join again when their financial situation gets better. What are they going to do in the meantime though? They probably do not have enough money to go out and buy expensive fitness equipment they need for their own workout studio in the home. Is it possible to get the exercise you need without exercise equipment? Fortunately, the answer is a resounding yes.
Bodyweight Exercises and Creative Uses of Household Items
You will have quite a few different bodyweight exercises that you will be able to do. For starters, you will be able to do some crunches and leg lifts on the floor. You will be able do pushups on the floor as well as dips on the edge of a sturdy chair or couch to get those triceps muscles working. Bodyweight squats and lunges are some other great exercises.
If you want to get some resistance training, take some gallon milk or juice jugs and fill them with water. You will be able to do bicep curls, overhead triceps extensions, lateral lifts for your shoulders and more with this simple homemade piece of equipment. If you find that a full jug is too heavy, only fill it part of the way up with water. If you find that it is too like, you can add sand instead of water.
No one likes housework, but it can be a great form of exercise. You can get quite the workout from cleaning your house from top to bottom. Mopping and vacuuming can be great cardio as well as a quality workout for the muscles. For most people, cleaning out the attic or the garage can be enough of a workout to last days.
Get the Friends Involved
If you like to work out with other people around, consider getting together with a couple of your friends. You will be able to take turns coming up with workouts and visiting each other's homes to get your exercise. You can even take some of these exercise sessions outside and to the backyard, the beach or the park.
Think Outside the Box for Exercise
Exercise doesn't have to be something requires reps and sets, and it doesn't have to be regimented like an exercise class at a fitness facility. Just getting outside and walking can be a wonderful way to get some exercise and to increase your level of fitness. Go for a walk or a hike, walk along the beach – walking or jogging in the sand can be a great workout and burn lots of calories.
As you can see, even when you can't spare the money to head to the gym, you can still keep nice and fit!
